Named funds
The assets of the Leiden University Fund have a number of specific uses, the so-called Named Funds. The donor determines the name and objective - a specific purpose - of the fund. Substantial donations can then be earmarked for these specific purposes.
The reasons for setting up a named fund can be very diverse: to commemorate a loved-one, as a way to live on in science or to support a field of science that is dear to one's heart. Donors also choose very specific purposes such as research into post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), international human rights and congenital heart defects.
You may be considering setting up a named fund yourself or making a contribution to an existing fund. If you would like more information to help you with your decision, please feel free to contact Eliane Cohen via e.c.cohen@luf.leidenuniv.nl.
