Leiden astronomer supports new generation of researchers
In the Alumni Room at the Faculty Club on Rapenburg, a new named fund was established on 7 September 2022: the Bouwens Astrophysics Fund. This fund was established by Dr Rychard Bouwens, an associate professor at the Leiden Observatory, who wants to give young researchers the chance to develop their skills.
Dr Bouwens wants to contribute to excellent scientific research in astronomy and astrophysics and to developing the talents of a new generation of researchers. With this aim in mind, this fund will make it possible to appoint a new PhD candidate in astrophysics. This candidate will work in the research group that is studying the formation and evolution of galaxies.
Benefactor Rychard Bouwens, President of the Executive Board of the University Annetje Ottow and LUF Director Lilian Visscher signed the agreement for the new fund on Wednesday afternoon in the presence of Jasper Knoester (Dean of the Faculty of Science) and Huub Rottgering (Professor of Observational Cosmology).
If you are considering establishing a named fund or contributing to an existing one, see this page for more information. Please feel free to contact Eliane Cohen with any questions at e.c.cohen@luf.leidenuniv.nl.
